WHAT THIS IS

A portable collection of tools, systems and knowledge that helps
people communicate, learn, repair, organise and operate
independently — including when the internet is unavailable.

Everything here works from local files. No account, no server,
no network connection required.

GUIDING PRINCIPLE
-----------------
Survival in a Box does not merely preserve technology. It helps
people understand, recover and use technology to retain the
ability to act, communicate, organise and build independent
systems.

This file is the fallback. The essentials:

- COMMUNICATE: messaging and radio-capable software that can work
  device-to-device without the wider internet.
- KNOWLEDGE: curated, readable guides and reference material
  kept offline, chosen with permission and a recorded source.
- REPAIR: tools for giving laptops, phones and routers a
  second life.
- NETWORKS: software and guides for making local connections
  between devices and places.
- ORGANISE: planning, lists and record-keeping resources.
- TOOLS: a checked, checksummed software collection — see
  SOFTWARE/MANIFEST.md and SOFTWARE/SHA256SUMS.txt on the USB
  for the verified inventory and install instructions.

HONEST LIMITS (this demonstration)

This phase-1 demo shows the concept and the entry experience.
It does NOT yet detect your hardware, connect to radios, or run
network/federation services — those arrive in later phases and
will only be shown when they genuinely work.
