What it holds

Useful things, gathered in one place you can carry.

Think of it as a well-packed kit for a digital world that sometimes fails: ways to talk, things to learn from, tools to fix and build with — kept together so they work wherever you open them.

Communicate

Stay in touch

Tools for messaging and sharing that can work between nearby devices — with or without the wider internet.

Knowledge

Keep learning

Carefully chosen reference material and guides, readable offline — practical help, community information, repair know-how.

Tools

Fix and build

A curated software collection for real jobs: radios, networks, phones and computers — verified, checksums included.

Organise

Get things done

Support for planning, record-keeping and coordinating — the quiet work of keeping a household or community moving.

Repair

Reuse technology

Give older laptops, phones and routers a second life instead of treating them as waste.

Independent

Operate alone

Designed to keep working when services, accounts and connections are unavailable — you are not locked to anyone’s cloud.

How it meets you

It works with what you have — not what you wish you had.

Different situations mean different devices and different connections. Survival in a Box is honest about what is possible at each level, and degrades gracefully rather than failing.

A

Full device, good connection

Rich interface, the whole collection, and — when available — optional sharing with other trusted nodes.

B

Modern device, no connection

Everything still works from the copy itself: read, learn, install tools, prepare. This page is proof.

C

Older or simpler device

Plain pages and text instructions stay usable on modest hardware and older browsers.

D

Almost nothing working

Human-readable labels, printed guides and clear organisation so a person can still find and use what is inside.

Survival in a Box does not merely preserve technology. It helps people understand, recover and use technology to retain the ability to act, communicate, organise and build independent systems. Guiding principle

Honest limits: this demonstration shows the concept. It does not yet detect your hardware, connect to radios, or run network services — those capabilities are being built in later phases and will be shown when they truly work.
