Survival in a Box

Explorewhat’s inside.

Seven doors into the collection. Open whichever matters to you — everything is ordered so the practical comes first.

Communicate

Talk and share

Messaging and communication software that can work between devices directly — including tools designed for low-bandwidth links and portable radio. Useful when the usual networks are down, expensive, or simply unavailable where you are.

Find knowledge

Look things up offline

A curated, readable library: practical help, community information, repair guidance and reference material chosen to be genuinely useful without a connection. Content is added selectively — with permission and a clear source — not bulk-copied.

Repair & reuse

Bring devices back to life

Tools and instructions for getting more out of laptops, phones and routers that would otherwise be written off — extending the useful life of hardware you already own.

Connect & build networks

Make your own links

Software and guides for creating local connections between devices and places — sharing within a building, a street, or a community, with or without outside internet.

Organise resources

Keep track and coordinate

Help for the unglamorous essentials: lists, plans, inventories and shared records — the organisational glue that makes everything else actually usable.

Create & develop

Build on top

The box is not a sealed product — its contents are documented, verified and meant to be understood, adapted and extended by the people who carry it.

The software collection

A checked, checksummed set of packages — communications, radio, networking and Android tools — each with its source, licence and install instructions recorded. See SOFTWARE/MANIFEST.md on the USB for the verified inventory.

One honest note

What this demo does not do — yet.

It cannot detect your hardware automatically, tune a radio, or federate with other nodes. Those are later phases, built and verified in order. What you see here is the front door — the working promise is that everything presented actually works offline.
